today is the day

I have been for several months showing here and there, images of babies in slings or slings without babies (made by PICOTONE). Today is the day to reveal that they will finally be available here on the blog. I have been making slings for at least 7 years (almost 8, the age of my first child). The first was the one I did for myself, the ones that followed were made by order of relatives or close friends ... and friends of friends. And now it's time to show them to the world, because the advantages of using a sling are more than many.

With my two children, when it was time for me to choose which baby carrier to use, my choice fell on the pouch sling because it seemed to me the most practical to use. Besides being comfortable for both, you cannot beat the ease with which you use it: just put on the sling with its shoulder strap and then the baby inside, as simple as that. You can take it out anywhere, change the baby's position very easily and, when not in use, it will fit into any purse or bag (see here how to wear it).

When I made my sling, I tried to choose a versatile fabric that suited in general to the clothes I wore in my day-to-day: blue denim vs. a printed fabric (you can see it here with Leonor inside). However I felt the need to have more neutral color choices, without necessarily having two different fabrics, mainly to match with my Autumn/Winter wardrobe, most of which usually composed by darker clothes in both seasons. The choice of fabrics for the slings I make, seeks to meet this need to feel good about our appearance and simultaneously carry a baby next to us. Because of that, I decided to give preference to neutral tones and to slings that, although reversible, have the same fabric on both sides (see here and here). All the fabrics used are strictly selected, quality and 100% cotton, and we also have a 100% organic cotton model (I hope to have more organic options in the near future). hoje é o dia

Há vários meses que tenho vindo a mostrar, aqui e ali, imagens de bebés em slings ou slings sem bebés (made by PICOTONE). Hoje é o dia de revelar que vão passar a estar disponíveis aqui no blog. Há pelo menos 7 anos (quase 8, a idade do meu primeiro filho) que faço slings. O primeiro foi o que fiz para mim, os que se seguiram foram feitos por encomenda para a família ou amigos próximos… e amigos de amigos. E agora chegou a altura de os mostrar ao mundo, porque as vantagens de usar um sling são mais que muitas.

Com os meus dois filhos, quando chegou a altura de escolher de que forma os transportar junto a mim, a minha escolha recaiu sobre o pouch sling por me parecer o mais prático de utilizar. Além de confortável para ambos, é imbatível na facilidade com que se utiliza: é só colocar o sling a tiracolo e colocar o bebé lá dentro, tão simples quanto isto. Põe-se e tira-se em qualquer lugar, muda-se a posição do bebé muito facilmente e arruma-se em qualquer mala (veja aqui como usar).

Quando fiz o meu sling, procurei escolher um tecido versátil que se adaptasse na generalidade à roupa que eu usava no meu dia a dia: ganga azul de um lado e um tecido estampado do outro (podem vê-lo aqui com a Leonor), no entanto senti necessidade de ter mais opções de cores neutras, sem necessariamente ter dois tecidos diferentes, principalmente para conjugar com o meu guarda roupa de Outono e Inverno, constituído por roupa mais escura por natureza. A escolha dos tecidos nos slings que faço, procura ir ao encontro desta necessidade de nos sentirmos bem com a nossa aparência e simultaneamente carregarmos um bebé junto a nós. Decidi por isso privilegiar os tons neutros e ter slings que, apesar de reversíveis, têm o mesmo tecido em ambas as faces (ver aqui e aqui). Todos os tecidos utilizados são escolhidos com rigor, qualidade e são 100% algodão e temos um modelo 100% algodão orgânico (espero ter num futuro próximo mais opções).
